Louisville, Ky. (WHAS) – Louisville fans are still celebrating the big win of the Big East Championship showdown with Rutgers last night.
Now comes the big question, will it be the Orange Bowl in Miami or the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans?
The decision will not be known until Sunday evening but it hasn’t stopped fans from reserving their tickets and travel packages.
With the victory, the Cards are BCS bowl bound for the first time since the 2006 season when they captured the Orange Bowl.
Fans at Cardinal Hall of Fame Café were abuzz over bowl talk.
“We are happy to see a BCS bowl. It was a struggle to get there last few weeks but we got there,” Cards fan Lamont Samuals said.
“I think we should build a monument to Jurich because we have a great basketball team, a great football team [and] we are going to the ACC,” Louisville alum Shawn Fore said. “It’s a good time to be a Louisville Cardinal.
That excitement means fans are eager to buy tickets and travel packages, even if they don’t know the final destination just yet.
It’s not as common these days to show up at a ticket counter and buy tickets to a particular bowl game. Especially in this case when we don’t know which game they’re going to.
GoCards.com has a way you can pre-order and put down a deposit on either bowl.
“They can pay a $25 deposit fee that will go toward their ticket once we find out which bowl we’re going to. We will then invoice those people that pre-ordered tickets, they pay and we continue to sell tickets for the next several weeks,” Brad Barber, U of L Assistant Athletic Director of Tickets and Operations said.
Of course, fans have already begun flooding the website wasting no time and making those bowl flight plans.
“We have taken several thousand orders already and we will continue to especially once we find out where we are going and I think that will create more of a ticket demand,” Barber said.
The Cards bowl destination will be announced on ESPN Sunday night.
