LOUISVILLE, Ky. (NEWS RELEASE) --  The University of Louisville men’s and women’s cross country teams each were recognized for the fourth-straight year for their success in the classroom.

On Monday afternoon, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association named the Cardinals’ squads as all-academic teams, an honor bestowed to teams that had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and started at least five athletes at their respective NCAA regional championships.

A total of 145 Division men’s teams and 200 Division I women’s teams achieved the status. The BIG EAST had the most programs on both sides earn the award, with the men registering nine teams on the list and the women placing 12.

Louisville’s men finished the season with two team victories, and freshman Ernest Kibet led the way, winning one individual title, earning all-BIG EAST honors and placing in the top 20 in four of five meets. The women took first in the season-opening meet, and Michelle Molodynia was the team’s top finisher in all six competitions.
