The seventh ranked Louisville men’s soccer team defeated Lipscomb 4-0 in the final exhibition game at Cardinal Park on Monday night. The Cardinals finished the preseason with a perfect 3-0 record.
“I thought tonight was a good game to develop our rhythm in the attack,” said head coach Ken Lolla. “I thought we were very productive in the attack. It was another good performance and we can build on it for our season opener.”
The Cardinal offense clicked early as Will Vitalis had multiple opportunities early but could not find the back of the net. Then in the 28th minute Ade Akinsanya took a pass from Alex Obbey and was able to get the ball behind the keeper for the goal. As the second period began the Cards were once again aggressive on the attack. Ryan Smith scored in the 49th minute. Smith took the ball straight up the middle and shot the ball right at the keeper for the score.
In the 56th minute Dylan Mares was taken down inside the penalty box, giving the Cardinals a penalty kick. Junior Andrew Farrell stepped up and sent the ball to the left corner of the net for the score. The penalty kick put the Cardinals up 4-0.
