LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – UofL wide receiver DeVante Parker will miss six to eight weeks with a broken toe in his left foot, head coach Bobby Petrino announced on Monday. Parker suffered the injury last week in a practice at Papa John’s Cardinals Stadium.
The Cardinals are deep at wide receiver, but his absence still leaves a void.
"A lot of guys need to step up in his absence,” Petrino said.
Parker could return in time for the Cards’ road game against Clemson October 11.
The Cards could also be without running back Michael Dyer, who is recovering from a quad injury, for next week’s opener against Miami. Petrino, however, would not rule him out.
“The next two days will be important in determining if he is available for the Miami game,” Petrino said.
