(WHAS11 NEWS) -- Thanks to an evening wind storm, thousands watched Friday night’s race at the Kentucky Speedway comfortably from the bleachers and the infield.
The wind storm that blew through the area Friday evening dropped the triple digit temperatures down about 20 degrees. Regardless of the heat earlier in the day, fans found a way to enjoy themselves.
Saturday’s crowd noticed the improvements the speedway made in traffic control and therefore didn’t battle much traffic or have trouble getting in for this year's race.
While the speedway has expanded their capacity and focused on traffic flow, officials warn that this is still a major sporting event. Officials say attendees should make sure to allow plenty of time to get there and get settled.
