(WHAS11/News release) -- Twelve 15-year-old boys from Harrison County traveled to Bloomington over the weekend for the for the Southern Indiana Babe Ruth State Tournament and brought home the State Championship.
Pool play was held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning - bracket play held Saturday afternoon/evening. On Sunday, the boys defeated South Civic (10-0), Princeton (4-2), and Barr-Reeve in the championship game (3-2).
The win earned them the right to continue on to the Babe Ruth League, Ohio Valley Regional Tournament being held in Henderson, Ky. July 25-29. There will be 12 teams representing regions from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
The team represents the 4 high schools in Harrison County: South Central, Lanesville, Corydon, and North Harrison.
The 18 year old team from Harrison County are state champs as well, winning the same State Tournament just two weeks ago.
