LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Highlights of the Louisville Cardinals win include, the hoisting of the coveted national championship trophy, a smile from Kevin Ware and the hugs for the players who battled like champions.

Chane Behannan said their hard work paid off. Peyton Siva said they knew they had to just go out and do it.

They won as a team, with so many players rising to the occasion, like Luke Hancock, who played his heart out in front of his ailing father in the stands. The father and son had a private moment right after the win when Luke's dad told him how proud he was of him and how much he loved him. Luke said that the moment meant everything.

There were also special moments for the Pitino family who has overcome tragedy with the loss of Joann Pitino's brother Billy Minardy. They said that they were all thinking of him after what Joann called "a blessing."

Rick Pitino gathered the family and presented Billy's wife with the Hall of Fame jersey he received. He said he wanted to give her something that meant the world to him.

The team may have won a National Championship, but there were so many personal triumphs and story lines for these incredible individuals.
