COALINGA, Calif. (WHAS11) -- One of America's favorite horses and Derby winners, California Chrome is back in his hometown and taking a well-deserved vacation.
"He hadn't been back for over a year, but he got off the van and seemed to really know where he was," John Harris, CEO of Harris Farms, said. "He's a very settled, intelligent horse."
California Chrome is getting some fresh air and shade at Harris Farms in Coalinga, California right now.
The farm is where he was born and raised and where he will spend the next month on vacation.
California Chrome's owners do plan to race him in the Breeder's Cup in November.
The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner's Triple Crown bid ended with a loss at the Belmont
Stakes earlier in June.
