LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) - - A Guinness world record will be set in Louisville over the weekend of May 12.  It’s called The National Archery in the Schools Tournament.

The Kentucky Fair and Expo Center is playing host to the history making event as it is the largest tournament in the world.  Students from elementary to high school are in town this weekend from 35 states. Over 8,000 students are registered for the tournament that is going to set the new world record.

Roy Grimes is the President of the National Archery in the Schools Program. Grimes told WHAS11 that China has been the record holder since 2010.

Not only is the tournament the largest in world, but the range at the Expo Center is biggest of its kind.

This is the eighth year for the tournament.
