LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It wasn't the ending the UofL Baseball Cardinals wanted. They came home after losing their first two games in the College World Series.

The Cardinals have had back-to-back trips to Omaha result in no wins and four losses.

UofL, however, was the only team from last year's College World Series to make it again this year.

The Cards also reached the 50-win plateau for the third time in five years and have reached Omaha three times since 2007.

That doesn't exactly take the sting away from losing, but Coach Dan McDonnell also wants to make his players keep things in perspective.

They said the have learned their lessons and are looking ahead to next year.
