(WHAS11) - Kentucky Derby champion Mine That Bird left Churchill Downs the same way he came.
On a trailer with his trainer, Chip Woolley up front driving the pick-up truck pulling the trailer. "He handles it good obviously but he doesn't care much. He just rides. We'll stop open the window. His top door and let him look out for a minute. He don't get nervous. He just stands there and watches. He's pretty laid back," says Woolley.
Mine That Bird checked out the backside of Churchill Downs for the final time. He's now on his way to Pimlico in Baltimore for Saturday's Preakness.
He shocked a lot of people by winning the Derby, now he's hoping to take another step towards winning the triple crown. "That's what I said. There's a little more pressure now that we won the derby, to show well and do good. But it's still comes down to a horse race and you got to be proud of your horse as long as he runs his best race," adds Woolley.
The Preakness is this Saturday at Pimlico.
So, they're now officially on their way to the Preakness, trainer and Derby winner, Mine That Bird.
His trainer says it is right for the horse and right for the sport of horseracing.
