CINCINNATI (AP) — Reds starter Mat Latos had an MRI on his sore pitching forearm Saturday, leaving him unsure of the next step in his recovery from elbow and knee problems.
The right-hander had surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow after last season. He tore cartilage in his left knee while throwing and had surgery on Feb. 14, the day the Reds opened spring training.
Latos had hoped to be ready to rejoin the rotation later this month. He suffered a setback this week when he was scratched from a minor league rehab start because of the sore forearm. He said the elbow and the knee felt good, and he's unsure why the forearm has become a problem.
