GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) — Bryan Price felt a little out of place when he sat down in the manager's chair at the Cincinnati Reds' spring training complex on Thursday.
The first-time manager is getting used to things.
The Reds open spring training on Friday when pitchers and catchers report. Price will be front-and-center. He was elevated from pitching coach when Dusty Baker was fired after the Reds failed to get deep into the playoffs last season.
Price says his pitching staff is healthy as camp begins. Reliever Jonathan Broxton had surgery to repair a tear in his forearm last August and is still recovering. The team is hopeful he can get on a mound sometime this month. Johnny Cueto and Tony Cingrani have recovered from muscle injuries.
