OAKLAND (AP) — Oakland and Detroit are playing tonight in the fifth and deciding game of their American League divisional playoff series. The Tigers tied things up two nights ago with an 8-6 victory. The winner advances to the American League Championship Series against the Red Sox.

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago's Bears are serving as the home team tonight against New York's Giants. After winning their first three games, the Bears have dropped two in a row while the Giants are winless in five outings this season. The last time they met was in 2010 when the Giants won 17-3.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have signed veteran quarterback David Garrard (guh-RARD') to backup and mentor rookie Geno Smith. Garrard first signed with the Jets in the off season but had to leave the team with knee problems.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — There's a top-25 football game tonight as No. 8 Louisville is hosting Rutgers in an American Athletic Conference game. A year from now the Cardinals will be part of the Big Ten while the Scarlet Knights will be in the ACC. Louisville is 5-0 while Rutgers is 4-1.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — The opening round of the LPGA Malaysia event was completed earlier today and two Americans are in good shape. The leader after 18 holes is South Korea's Ilhee Lee at 64, while Brittany Lang is one back and American Paula Creamer (KREE'-mer) two back.
