(WHAS11)- It appears former Arkansas and Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino will be replaced by John L. Smith.

The AP is reporting that Smith, who is also a former head football coach at Louisville, will take the job on an interim basis for one year.

Smith coached at Arkansas last season but left to become the coach at Weber state and now returns to Arkansas.

Petrino was fired April 10 after he crashed his motorcycle while riding with a woman he hired as his assistant.

It was later revealed he was having an affair with her.
