(WHAS11)- It could be a career ending injury for former Louisville basketball star Edgar Sosa.

Sosa broke his leg Sunday in the final seconds of a game between the Dominican National team and Panama.

Sosa had been playing for his national team that is coached by UK's John Calipari.

“It’s one of the most devastating things I’ve ever been through,” Calipari said after the game, adding that it ripped him apart.

At the end of the game, Edgar Sosa drove to the basket going up for a shot and came down violently, breaking both his tibia and fibula.

It happened with less than a minute to play and the Dominican team up 20.

Calipari has spoken about how Sosa was using this opportunity to create a career in the NBA. Now, everything is in doubt.

After the game, Calipari, notably upset, said “It's one of the most devastating things I’ve ever been through. I've been through one other thing like this and that's when Marcus Camby passed out in the hallway during warm-ups. We didn't know if he had died of a heart attack. That just ripped me apart. This is the same thing."
