LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- WHAS11 was recognized for two (2) of the broadcast industry’s most prestigious awards in local news receiving the 2013 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for “Continuing Coverage: Aftermath and Recovery from the March 2012 Tornadoes”, and for “Breaking News: Fire Erupts on Derailed Train." “It is rewarding to see that our commitment to breaking news, and continuing news and weather coverage throughout the Kentuckiana region recognized by our peers...it’s a tribute to the outstanding work of our newsroom”, said WHAS11 Executive News Director Mark Neerman. The Edward R. Murrow Regional winners automatically become eligible for the national awards competition, which will be judged in early June. The national Edward R. Murrow Awards will be presented October 14 at the RTNDA Awards Dinner in New York.
