FREDERICKSBURG, Ind. (WHAS11) -- A fatal accident shutdown U.S. 150 in Washington County near Fredericksburg, Ind.for several hours Tuesday morning.

Indiana State Police said the accident happened around 7 a.m. west of North Road.

Investigators said 33-year-old Jeremy Hall of French Lick was traveling west when he attempted to pass a vehicle in front of him. Hall entered the east-bound lanes and struck 27-year-old Alisha Riggs of Hardinsburg.

Riggs was pronounced dead at the scene. Hall was transported by helicopter to University Hospital in Louisville with serious injuries.

Police said it is not clear at this time if either driver was wearing a seat belt, but they are working to reconstruct the accident. Police said their findings will be sent to the Washington County prosecutor to determine if criminal charges will be filed.
