JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) -- Since Aug. 17, there has been more than a dozen break-ins, all in Jeffersonville and all in churches. Thursday night 18-year-old Brandon Masters was arrested after police received a call of yet another break-in.

“The church advised that they had a glass break alarm and a motion alarm,” Detective Todd Hollis said.

Last night at Eastern Heights Baptist Church Masters was truly caught red handed. After throwing a concrete pot through the window, he cut himself on the shards and tracked blood all the way down the hallway.

“One of the officers spotted a man inside. He saw the officers. The officers saw him. He fled deeper into the church; an officer went around to the back of the building and tried to secure it. At that time he fled out of a side door,” Hollis said.

Police chased Masters outside but lost him. They called in the K-9 unit and helicopter to scout the area. He was nabbed after some witnesses told police he was hiding in a house in a nearby court.

“Our officers recognized him. From the pursuit they had gotten a good look at him so they knew who he was,” Hollis said.

Masters was questioned for two hours then he finally admitted to all of the burglaries, even telling police he broke into some of the churches more than once.

“He went so far to point out those locations on a map,” Hollis said.

Masters made off with a PlayStation and a safe on two different occasions but police say his main motive was money because he's homeless. Unfortunately, his methods of breaking and entering will cost way more than the amount of money he stole.

“He just did so much damage breaking into offices and closets and drawers. It’s going to cost the churches a lot more to fix the damage than to reimburse their loss,” Hollis said.

Masters is charged with multiple counts of burglary. Police believe he worked alone.
