LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Louisville man shot and killed Wednesday morning has been identified and police continue to search for his killer.
“[I am] very nervous,” Shanay Jackson said. “I do not want my kids here because I live here.”
Jackson said it was around 2:30 a.m. when she heard a single gunshot. Her next door neighbor was shot and killed in his apartment. Police said they found Patrick Craig, 28, dead at the scene.
“At this point we do not have any suspects,” LMPD spokesperson Alicia Smiley said. “There was another person inside the residence when the victim was shot. The other person is not considered a person of interest.”
The other person did not see the shooting, police said, and might have been asleep when it happened.
“I feel bad because if I would have just got up to look [out the window] I would have been able to give a description [of the suspect] because he ran right by my window,” Jackson said.
Jackson said she barely knows her neighbor, but could hear someone run running past her home immediately after the shooting.
Craig lived in an apartment above a garage in a back alley off of the 4000 block of Southern Parkway about a mile south of Churchill Downs. Investigators canvassed the area in and around the apartment in the early morning hours to hopefully find clues that will lead them to the victim’s killer.
“We do not know if they are coming back or anybody wants to retaliate,” Jackson said. “This just does not happen here.”
