BREATHITT COUNTY, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A shootout in eastern Kentucky ended with the gunman dead and several other people wounded, including three law enforcement officers.
It started around 8 p.m. in Breathitt County when a driver called police saying someone was shooting at his vehicle. Two people inside the car were shot and are expected to survive.
The suspect allegedly opened fire when two Kentucky state troopers and two sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene.
One of the troopers was shot in the face. Both of the deputies were wounded, but none of the injuries are considered life-threatening.
The gunman was shot by authorities and later died.
