Serious accident in Scottsburg sends 5 to hospital

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Four people were injured overnight after a crash in Scottsburg, Ind.

The accident happened just after midnight on Interstate 65 south near Exit 29.

Police said a Hyandai, driven by 28-year-old Evan Allen, traveling north crossed the center median into the southbound lanes and hit a Ford pick up truck.

According to a news release, Allen and four people in the pick up truck, 53-year-old Roger Timbrook, 51-year-old Margaret Timbrook, 21-year-old Jennifer Timbrook and 17-year-old Jonathon Timbrook all of Fort Wayne, were taken to University Louisville Hospital with serious injuries.

It is not clear at this time what caused Allen to lose control of his car.

Indiana State Police is investigating the accident.

The interstate was shut down for about two hours but has since reopened.
