LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Local retired firefighters are getting a big payday. They will get about $6.5 million for interest on their pensions from the city of Louisville due to unpaid overtime.

A judge had previously ordered the city of Louisville to pay overtime that was owed to the firefighters. Now, a judge ruled those firefighters should get the interest from that money in their pensions. That means the city owes them an additional $6.5 million.

The mayor says he isn't ruling out the possibility of an appeal.

WHAS11's Renee Murphy has the full story.
