Man tells police he stole food to make a birthday dinner for his girlfriend

Police arrested Jerimey Leslie on charges of shoplifting and alcohol intoxication after they say he stole food items for a special dinner.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Police arrested a man on charges of shoplifting and alcohol intoxication after they say he stole food items for a special dinner.

Jerimey Leslie, 33, was caught by Kroger security shoplifting items valued at $42.64, according to a police report. The report says Leslie smelled strongly of alcohol.

Leslie stated that he stole the items because it was his girlfriend's birthday and he wanted to make her some food. According to the police report Leslie said he did not have the money for the food. Upon arrest the officer located money in Leslie's pocket.

The police report says Leslie was a danger to himself and others due to the high level of alcohol.
