LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Louisville mother is facing several charges after she was found unresponsive alongside her 6-week-old child.

According to the arrest warrant, 24-year-old Ashley Plunkett, who is not the custodial parent, was not breathing when she was found by the baby's father during a scheduled visitation.

Police said they were called to the scene and began "breathing" for Plunkett until EMS arrived.

During their investigation of the scene, officers said they found Plunkett in "close proximity" to a syringe with heroin residue, 27 diazepam pills and a spoon and a plate used to prepare heroin for injection.  Police also said all of this was in the same room as her 6-week-old child.

Plunkett was transported to University of Louisville Hospital and was later released.

She is charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, wanton endangerment, possession of a controlled substance 1st degree, possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.
