LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A new version of Kentucky Fried Chicken is now open for business.
Labeled as 'KFC Eleven', the new take on the old fast food establishment aims for a sleeker, healthier look while offering salads, rice bowls, flat breads and more. This is KFC's attempt to make the transition from 'fast food' to 'fast casual.'
The Bardstown Road location in the Highlands has been closed for months due to renovations. New signage will not feature the iconic Colonel Sanders but KFC President John Cywinski says they have not forgotten their heritage.
The 'eleven' of the new name 'KFC Eleven' is derived from Colonel Sanders' secret recipe of eleven herbs and spices.
The pilot restaurant is exclusive to Louisville right now but if successful, there could be others like it opening in other markets.
