LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Police are investigating after a dispute lead to a stabbing and a police pursuit Thursday morning.

The incident took place around 10 a.m. at the Valero gas station at the corner of Cane Run Road and Algonquin Parkway. A woman was giving her boyfriend a ride to the Park Hill Neighborhood when they stopped for gas and an argument ensued.

An employee said when he came out of the store for the first time he saw the couple arguing. He went back inside and came out again - that's when he said he saw the man stab the woman and force her out of the car.

The woman went inside the gas station for help and that is when the man left the scene in the vehicle.

Police said the man continued to drive until he crashed into a parked car and a tree at the intersection of Greenwood Road and Daffodil Drive near Pleasure Ridge Park High School and Greenwood Elementary School.

School officials said none of the students at either school were in any danger, but the high school was placed on Level 4 Security and the elementary school on Level 5 Security as a precaution.

Both the victim and the suspect were transported to University of Louisville Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police said once the man is released from the hospital charges will be placed against him.
