LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A high school cross country runner in Lexington couldn’t shake the meaning behind three numbers – 666.

Codie Thacker decided to follow her faith in God and not run in the biggest race of the season.

She says she was ready to go for gold at her regional cross country meet held last Saturday but those three numbers got in the way.

“I just don’t believe that 666 should be a number that’s anywhere on your body and I did not want that number associated with me. It kind of made me sick,”Thacker said.

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association says had they known Thacker dropped out because of religious beliefs they may have changed their minds and given her a different number.
