LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)--After nearly 30 years they are still all rage and fans stood in line Friday morning to get their hands on the newly released Air Jordan shoes.

Several people camped out in front of City G.E.A.R. in Shively Thursday night, braving wintry conditions, waiting for the story to open.  When it did, it was a crazy rush to get inside.

“Off the gully, I had to get them,” Richard Burton said.

A swarm of people tried to rush the door at Foot Action and City G.E.A.R. for the limited release of the classic Jordans.

“At first it started out as a line, then as more people started coming, they started going to the front of the line and it just lost order,” Richard Ramsey said. 00:06:59:08

“People were pushing and shoving and everything. It was ugly,” Burton said.

City G.E.A.R. let people in two at a time, first come first serve, police officers manning the doors to keep the crowd in check.

“It was only like three people here and the later it got, the more people came,” Darius Graves, another man who purchased a pair, said.

The reason for the craze? The shoes are a limited edition, so if you don't get them now, you don't get them at all.

“Unless you try to catch them online, but yeah, in stores it's done for,” Semajj Burage with City G.E.A.R.

This store only had 30 pairs to sell – each retailing at just under $200, kids sizes for just under $100.
