ELIZABETH, Ind. (WHAS11) -- The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-0 tornado touched down in Elizabeth, Indiana around 4:00 a.m. Wednesday. Wind gusts up to 85 miles per hour and heavy rain caused damage to several buildings and broke many trees in the area.
The River Side Presbyterian Church, which is no longer in service, had its front wall knocked to the ground because of the storm. A barn next door to the church received major damage to its roof and walls.
Tin roof sheets, tree limbs and debris was found scattered in the small neighborhood, about four miles south of the Horseshoe Casino, that contains about a dozen homes in the area where the tornado hit.
No injuries were reported in Elizabeth because of the storm.
