SHELBY CO., Ky. (WHAS11) -- Interstate 64 was closed at mile marker 36 westbound in Shelby County due to a semi fire on the right shoulder for about two hours Thursday morning.
The fire happened just after 7 a.m. when the semi slammed into an abandoned car, shutting down both westbound lanes for a couple hours and causing traffic to back up for nearly three miles.
Police have yet to comment on the condition of the truck driver.
Police have since reopened the left lane and said the expect the other westbound lane to reopen by 1 p.m.
