After scoring four goals and leading the Louisville women’s soccer team to a pair of wins last week, sophomore forward Christine Exeter was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Exeter (Pickering, Ont., Canada/Pickering HS) scored two goals in each BIG EAST contest last week, including the game-winner in a 2-1 double-overtime win at Georgetown on Oct. 9, which moved the Cardinals into first place in the National Division. She also scored two goals in U of L’s 3-2 double-overtime win at Villanova on Oct. 7.
Overall, Exeter leads Louisville with nine goals this season, including eight in the last seven games. The nine goals are the most for a Louisville player since Jamie Craft also scored nine goals in 2006. In conference games, Exeter is tied for the BIG EAST lead in goals (eight) and ranks second in points (17).
Up next, the Cardinals will host Rutgers (Friday, 7 p.m., ET) and Seton Hall (Sunday, noon, ET) this weekend in their final regular season home games of 2011 at Cardinal Park.
