LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer has appointed the city's Chief Financial Officer Steve Rowland to the Louisville Arena Board. The appointment is effective immediately, it does not require Metro Council approval.
In a statement, the mayor said the city will benefit from Rowland having a voting position. The mayor says this appointment will give the Arena Authority a broader view of city operations and related financial projections.
The money that is coming in from a special taxing district is below what was expected. This year the city will have to pay $9.8 million to make the Arena Authority's debt payment. That is the maximum the city has to pay this year.
