(WHAS11) -- If you use a credit card it could cost you more to shop.
The biggest anti-trust settlement ever could affect a large amount of the 175 million Americans with credit cards.
It calls for Visa and MasterCard to pay billions of dollars to settle allegations they overcharged merchants to process credit card transactions.
Stores could start charging customers an additional percentage for using a credit card at checkout. Those new fees do not apply to debit cards.
The national retail federation believes most stores will find ways to avoid passing on the charge such as offering a cheaper price if you pay with cash.
