Andy Treinen
Anchor
He comes to WHAS11 from WTMJ in Milwaukee where he anchored the morning and midday news for three years. The 1990 University of Cincinnati graduate is thrilled to be back near home surrounded by friends and family who are spread out throughout Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.
Andy started his career behind the scenes at WLWT in Cincinnati where Jerry Springer was the primary anchor.
When Cincinnati’s Fox station WXIX was looking to debut a new weekend sports show Treinen was hired to launch and produce it.
Within a few months Andy was reporting for WXIX covering the Reds, Bengals, Bearcats and Kentucky. Andy says, “It was a whole lot of fun covering the teams I grew up watching.”
In Cincinnati, Andy won five Midwest Regional Emmys reporting on both Sports and News.
He also spent time as the play-by-play voice of Cincinnati Bearcat Football and Basketball on WXIX.
Andy’s wife Wendy, and his daughters Ella, and Mia are his greatest loves. Together, they hope to make Louisville home for a long, long time.
