MIR ALI, Pakistan (AP) — At least five Pakistani soldiers and eight militants have been killed in separate incidents in Pakistan.
A suspected U.S. missile strike killed the militants in northwestern Pakistan, near the Afghan border.
The soldiers were reported killed in clashes in an area previously cleared by the army. It underscores the difficulty of containing the militants.
Pakistani intelligence officials say a drone fired two missiles Friday at a compound being used by Taliban militants in a village near Mir Ali in North Waziristan. They say eight bodies were found. The intelligence officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to release the information.
