ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Four children died of swine flu on Monday in Turkey, bringing the country's death toll to eight, the Health Ministry said.
The victims included a 22-month-old baby as well as a 4-year-old and a 14-year-old — both suffering from chronic illnesses, the ministry said. The fourth victim was a 13-year-old girl, it added.
Turkey on Monday began vaccinating vulnerable groups against swine flu, starting with health workers and Muslim pilgrims preparing to travel to Mecca for the annual hajj.
