NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — Three people have been killed and at least 60 wounded in the Kenyan capital, where authorities say homemade bombs exploded on two buses packed with commuters.

The attacks occurred on one of the busiest highways in Nairobi.

Officials say 20 of the wounded are in critical condition.

Today's bombings follow a pair of explosions along the Kenyan coast yesterday. Police say in one attack, four people were killed by a grenade thrown at a bus stop in Mombasa. The second blast at a public beach didn't cause any fatalities.

Kenya has been hit with a wave of attacks since it sent troops to neighboring Somalia to fight Islamic extremist rebels in 2011.
