SANAA, Yemen (AP) — There's no word yet on who was killed today in Yemen, where officials say missiles from a U.S. drone slammed into a convoy of vehicles traveling to a wedding party, killing at least 13 people.

It happened in a city (Radda) that is a stronghold of al-Qaida militants. There were deadly clashes there last year between armed tribesmen backed by the military and al-Qaida gunmen.

There are conflicting reports about whether there were militants traveling with the wedding convoy.

A military official said initial information indicated that the drone mistook the wedding party for an al-Qaida convoy. He said tribesmen who were known to the villagers were among the dead.

But a security official said al-Qaida militants were suspected to have been traveling with the wedding convoy.

The CIA isn't commenting on the reported drone strike. While the U.S. acknowledges its drone program in Yemen, it doesn't usually talk about individual strikes.
