SRINAGAR, India (AP) — Police say suspected separatist rebels stormed into a police station in the Indian portion of Kashmir and shot and killed at least four police officers and two civilians before attacking a nearby army camp.
Five soldiers were critically wounded at the army camp, and two of them died.
No group has claimed responsibility for Thursday's attack in the town of Hiranagar.
Police say in the first attack, three gunmen dressed in Indian army uniforms sprayed bullets at the police station. They escaped in a truck they hijacked after the attack.
Both India and Pakistan claim Kashmir in its entirety, and rebel groups have been fighting Indian rule since 1989.
