LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- (WHAS) Controversial X-ray machines at airports are being removed from major airports.

The TSA is replacing them with newer machines.

According to the website Pro-Publica, X-ray body scanners are being moved from high-traffic airports and going to smaller ones.

X-ray body scanners got a bad rap from travelers over privacy, because the images can be revealing.

The new machines display a generic drawing of a person's body instead of a detailed body scan.
