The 2018 Golden Globe Awards host is ... Seth Meyers

(USA Today) Ladies and gentlemen, Seth Meyers is hosting the Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 7.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the group that puts on the annual TV and movie awards show, shared the news on Thanksgiving.

Meyers will take over the role from fellow Saturday Night Live alum Jimmy Fallon, who MC'd the show last year, and a few years after former SNL castmates Amy Poehler and Tina Fey co-hosted in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

“With his natural comedic wit and innate ability to charm audiences, Seth will help us carry on the celebratory tradition of recognizing the best in television and film at the Party of the Year," said HFPA President Meher Tatna in a release.

There's a good chance the Meyers-led show will touch on politics, after the comedian and writer's Late Night show has been taking a "closer look" at President Trump in news segments.

Meyers also hosted the Emmy Awards in 2014.
