FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- The Kentucky Historical Society has released the next installment of its smartphone application with guides to points highlighted by historical markers around the state.
The new segment focuses on the University of Kentucky historical markers, which are created by the senior classes at UK. A committee picks a topic, raises funds for the marker, researches and writes the text and works with the historical society to produce the marker each year.
The new UK tour, which has been added to the "Explore Kentucky History" app, includes the 19 historical markers on campus that are dedicated to people and places such as Adolph Rupp, Stoll Field, Memorial Hall and WBKY-WUKY.
The app is free and available at the Apple App Store and Google Play.
