LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Louisville Metro Department of Corrections has officers testing out a new body camera.

The small cameras are about the size of a pager, and they clip right on to the officer's uniform. They record both video and sound. Mark Bolton, the director of Metro Corrections, said the new cameras can help keep the officers safe.

The tiny cameras have a big price tag, about $800, but Bolton said there are other factors to consider like less litigation and less inmate on staff attacks.

Metro Corrections is still looking into how to pay for the cameras, but Bolton told WHAS11 News that there are a number of grants that might help them out.
