| Beshear Breaks From The Gate Ahead of Fletcher; Democrats Positioned for KY Statehouse Takeaway: In a general election for Governor of Kentucky today, 5/25/07, three days after the Primary and 5-and-1/2 months to the general, the Democratic challengers Steve Beshear and Dan Mongiardo jump to a commanding lead over the incumbent Republican team of Ernie Fletcher and Robbie Rudolph, according to a SurveyUSA poll of 609 likely voters conducted exclusively for WHAS-TV Louisville and WCPO-TV Cincinnati. Beshear is at 62% in this first look at a General Election match-up. Fletcher is at 34%. 36% of Kentucky Republicans cross-over and vote Democratic in this contest. Beshear leads 7:1 among Democrats and 5:4 among Independents. Beshear leads in all 4 regions of the state. He leads by 15 points among men and by 42 points among women. |
