This is the 11th year Louisville has won the award, for the city's priority to plant and nurture trees.

"One of the beautiful things about trees is people that are 100 years old or like these kids that are 10 years old, they all love trees. 39 and its wonderful to see them passing on the tradition and these kids planting trees that are going to be here 100 years from now," said Mayor Fischer.

Louisville has also received a Tree City USA growth award, for demonstrating progress in the forestry program.
