LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A fire that broke out in a home in an Iroquois Park Neighborhood in the 6700 block of Seminole Avenue has caused $90,000 in structure and content damage.

Louisville Fire and Rescue found heavy fire blowing through a rear portion of the roof in the three-story frame and single family dwelling when they arrived. After searching the residence, firefighters rescued two dogs which suffered smoke inhalation but will survive the incident. No one from the family of six, four adults and two children, was home at the time of the fire.

It took 23 firefighters 20 minutes to control the fire and no firefighters were injured.

Firefighters were called out around 1:30 Thursday afternoon.

Officials say the fire originated in the rear of the house in a small bedroom where the fire was confined. Three other rooms sustained significant smoke damage. Louisville Metro Arson Squad is investigating the cause.

The displaced family will be receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
