Yes, these are real images of planet Earth

Akpatok Island, Canada | NASA calls it “a stunning array of images of our home planet, taken by Earth-observing science satellites,” and now you can view them free via a new iPad app. The app, called “Earth as Art” in the Apple App Store, features 75 views from space that you’d swear are some kind of abstract painting laid down on a canvas by a talented artist. The photos are also featured in a new NASA hardcover book of the same title.
