NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Students at Doak Elementary School in Greeneville, Tennessee got a big surprise last week when The Band Perry stopped by. The school holds an annual fundraiser in honor of their late teacher, Lisa White, a cancer victim. The band offered to send an autographed photo to help the school raise money for the American Cancer Society, but decided to show their support in person instead. Kimberly Perry, a friend of White's, says it was "very moving" to visit the school where her friend taught. The Perry siblings also lost an aunt to cancer. The band is also supporting a new anti-hunger campaign. On Monday they kicked off "The Fighting Hunger Together" initiative with Kimberly Williams-Paisley. The campaign aims to provide meals to hungry families across the country.
