(WHAS11) -- Mothers across the country staged nurse-in protests at Target stores Monday breastfeeding their babies while walking through the store.

It comes after a Texas woman says she was harassed and embarrassed by a Target employee for nursing her son.

She says her son Noah was hungry, so she sat on the floor of the woman's clothing section to nurse. The employee offered her a dressing room and the woman claims when she said no the harassment started.

The woman said They all came and started walking by and shaking their head rolling their eyes like I'm doing something so horrible like feeding my baby here.

Target says guests who choose to breast-feed in public areas of the store are welcome to do so without being made to feel uncomfortable.

Corporate officials say Target has been in touch with the store in question to ensure all team members are aware of the policy.
